Updates: March 2018

Archon Day

Save the date for June 29, 2018 at Denison University! More details to come about accommodations, programming, etc. If you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see or topics you'd like to cover, send them my way.

Communication

There are a few more names on our mailing list. Does anyone have any suggestions on a better way
for us to communicate/spread news rather than 50 emails in the To: field? Unfortunately the site we built in Google Sites doesn't allow for a blog with RSS/Subscription type features. I would love any suggestions or thoughts you have on this, on- or off- list. I was wondering if Constant Contact or something would be helpful, but personally I know my Google Mail tends to filter those types of things into a "Forums" or "Updates" type mail box and it skips my inbox... I was also thinking Google Groups, but not all work institutions and/or Google Apps institutions have access to that and it can restrict people on which email address to use.

Open Source Software Sustainability Guidebook

Lyrasis has produced the Open Source Software Sustainability Guidebook. Last year at Archon Day, we identified that there was parallel interests in learning how other open source software were governed. Laurie Arp has forwarded me the following announcement, which I now share with you all:

LYRASIS is proud to announce the release of the Open Source Software Sustainability Guidebook as the culmination of the“It Takes a Village” project. The Guidebook is designed to serve as a practical reference source to help open source software programs serving cultural and scientific heritage organizations plan for long-term sustainability. This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services - Grant LG-73-17-0005-17; LYRASIS appreciates their support.
